Speke Hotel 1996 Ltd - Kampala

Braw stay! The air conditioning was a pure blessing after hot days up North, and the breakfast was cracking with room service speed. But, I did find the Indian restaurant a bit of a letdown.

Consider requesting a room in the main building to avoid the discomfort of dark pathways at night.

Well-kept hotel with Colonial decor. Good-sized room with a balcony and good sized work table plus a bar, and smoke detectors too for guests' safety. Nice and perfect location for Kampala, next to centre of Kampala as well as a night cluB called the Peacock. Also, to be expected in the area.

The apartment was bigger than expected and pleasant.

The restaurant service was slow. I waited 30 minutes without anyone approaching me. The mosquito problem was a nightmare. I barely slept due to their presence, and even after requesting a net, it didn't fit well. To top it all off, the location of the apartment is awkward and feels disjointed from the main hotel.

This is my third stay at the hotel and I can highly recommend it, as the location really allows you to easily explore Kampala's highlights like the Independence Monument, just a few steps away, and the Uganda National Museum, located almost 2 km from the hotel, making my city walks enriching and enjoyable.

Overall had very good stay on a business trip. I ate at a fabulous restaurant with an exquisite menu for adults and children. An electric kettle, refrigerators and glassware where available.

The room was spacious and quiet with great shower facilities. Staff were accommodating, always ready to assist with my late check-in after long travels.

Had a great couple of nights here! The staff were super friendly and the breakfast choices were awesome, but that noise from the nightclub made it hard to sleep. Chur!
